As we reflect upon 2019 and all that has transpired in our world and in our nation— and even among those who ‘profess’ to be Christians, it is apparent to anyone with discernment that evil is increasing (2 Timothy 3:13). Along with ‘an increase in knowledge’ and ‘an increase in lawlessness’, there is also an increase in the number of people embracing apostasy—accepting false doctrines and engaging in lifestyles contrary to the Word of God, as well as approving of those who live godless lives (Daniel 12:4; Matthew 24:12; 2 Thessalonians 2:3; 1 Timothy 4:1-3; Romans 1:18-25).

In the midst of the ever growing darkness, we want to reassure and encourage you with these words: DO NOT FEAR!!! God has not changed!!! He is still Sovereign, He is still on the throne, and He is still working ALL things together for His glory!!! Even though it may seem like the world ‘is falling apart’, He wants you to know that it is all coming together according to His infallible Word! Satan is a defeated foe…the victory was won at Calvary… and His victory is also our victory through the shed blood of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit Who lives in and is at work in all who believe!!! Jesus, the Light of the World, has overcome the darkness! Like the moon and the stars shining forth in the night sky, His Light appears even more brilliant the darker it gets. May the darkness be used to draw us and others to the One Who is the ‘Light of the World’!

In His mercy, God warned us that these days would come upon the earth. So, rather than succumbing to the despair, despondency, anxiety, worry and fear that Satan wants to stir up in you, this is the time to rejoice, for our redemption is drawing near! (Luke 21:28) He told us that ‘in this world there would be tribulation’; yet, we who know and put our trust in Him can be of ‘good cheer’ because He has overcome the world! (John 16:33) Our hope is not in anything or anyone in this world—including any earthly rulers—but our Hope is in the One Who ‘removes kings and sets up kings; (who) gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding’ (Daniel 2:21). Greater is He Who is in us who believe, than he that is in the world! (1 John 4:4) What God is asking of you and of us in this hour is to ‘fear the Lord’ only; to ‘hold fast’ to your faith in Him; and to encourage one another in the faith.

Let us seize and hold tightly the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is reliable and trustworthy and faithful [to His word]; and let us consider [thoughtfully] how we may encourage one another to love and to do good deeds, not forsaking our meeting together [as believers for worship and instruction], as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more [faithfully] as you see the day [of Christ’s return] approaching. Hebrews 10:23-25 Amplified
