Since the Garden of Eden where You assigned Adam the job of tending to the garden, you have made work a part of mankind’s life and blessed it. You have said that toil is a gift from You, so may I enjoy my work, treasure it as a gift from You, and use my labor for Your glory (Ecclesiastes 3:12-13; 5:19)). I commit my work unto You, Lord, and in everything I do, may I do it with all of my heart and might, as working for You and not for man; may I always keep in mind that it is You that I am really serving. (Psalm 90:17; Colossians 3:23-24) May I never be slothful, and may I always apply myself in my workplace and in my home with all diligence and work in a way that honors You. (Proverbs 12: 24; Colossians 3:23-24) And since I know that I truly am laboring for You, may I give myself fully to the work You have assigned to me and whatever I do, may it be done with excellence as unto You. (1 Corinthians 15:58; Colossians 3:17) May I not have my identity rooted and grounded in the job you have entrusted to me to do; keep me from thinking my title or salary defines who I am, but may my identity first and foremost always be found in being the Daughter or Son of You, the ‘King of Kings’ and ‘Lord of Lords’!
May I work diligently as unto you, and may I also prioritize taking a Sabbath rest which You know I need and You have ordained for my good and Your glory. (Hebrews 4:9-10) In every way, I pray that You will establish and bless the work of my hands and may Your favor rest upon me. (Psalm 90:7) In Your Holy Name, I pray. Amen.
